My name is Sophie, welcome to Rising Wisdom.
This is a gentle, holistic, and humanistic space that invites anyone experiencing grief, loss, change, or transition, to explore their emotions with tenderness and compassion.
Perhaps your world feels like it is falling apart, or you feel that you have completely lost yourself because of your loss. Maybe you have been caught in the endless spiral of seeking a solution from outside yourself, and are now ready to try something different.
Here you are invited to turn your attention inwards towards your own Rising Wisdom - the wisdom, truth, and knowing deep within you that inherently knows how to guide you, and that invites a deeper and more loving connection with your true self.
Through hypnotherapy, meditation, grief tending, and circle, you can connect with this innate knowing, and truly start to heal.
Created from my own personal experience of trauma, grief, recovery, and post-traumatic growth, Rising Wisdom is the space that I needed when I was navigating traumatic life experiences.
This is your invitation to quieten the noise, turn inwards, and begin discovering what your own Rising Wisdom has been waiting to tell you.

Grief can arrive in so many different forms.
The death of someone you love, a miscarriage, the ending of a relationship or marriage, losing a job, a home, a future you imagined, or a version of yourself. Sometimes grief begins before a loss has even happened, as we live alongside the uncertainty of someone we love becoming unwell.
Whatever has brought you here, you may find yourself feeling lost, overwhelmed, exhausted, or simply unsure of how to carry what has happened.
Grief-tending offers a gentle space to turn towards your grief rather than having to carry it alone. A place where there is time to breathe, to feel, to remember, to make sense of what has changed, and to begin to discover who you are becoming alongside your loss.
There is no timeline to follow and no right way to grieve. Your grief belongs to you. Together, we can create space for whatever you bring whether that is sadness, anger, guilt, love, longing, relief, confusion, numbness - all the feelings that can exist alongside one another. Through compassionate conversation, reflection, gentle practices and connection with the body, you can begin to tend to your grief, to witness it, and slowly begin to discover who you are on the other side of your loss.
I’ll walk alongside you with warmth, compassion and experience as you find your own way to navigate your grief, not leaving your loss behind, but discovering how to carry it differently.

Imagine having a little more space between you and the thoughts, feelings, or patterns that have been keeping you stuck.
Hypnotherapy offers a gentle opportunity to slow down, quieten the noise around you and turn your attention inwards. In this quieter space, we can begin to explore what sits beneath the surface, your emotions, beliefs, habits, and experiences that may be influencing how you feel and respond in the here and now.
For some people, this can be particularly powerful when navigating grief and loss. Grief can live in the mind, the body and the subconscious in ways we don't always have words for. Hypnotherapy offers a different way of meeting those experiences, with curiosity, compassion and care.
By using therapeutic suggestions designed around you, you are supported to create new associations, strengthen helpful patterns and move towards the changes you want to make.

There is something deeply human about sitting in a circle and being given the time and space to simply be heard.
For generations, communities have gathered in circle to share stories, experiences and wisdom. At the heart of circle is the talking piece, a simple ceremonial object that gives whoever holds it the space to speak, uninterrupted, while everyone else listens. There is nothing to fix here. No advice to give. No expectations about what you should feel or how your grief should unfold.
Just the gentle experience of being witnessed.
Grief can be incredibly lonely. In circle, you are invited to bring whatever your grief looks like today, the sadness, love, longing, memories or simply the things you don't have words for.
You can speak, listen, or simply be present. There is no pressure to share and no right way to participate.
Through our stories, we find connection. Through being heard, we can begin to hear ourselves more clearly. And in the quiet space between the words, we can reconnect with our own Rising Wisdom.
My grief circles offer a tender, non-judgemental space for anyone living with grief or loss to come together, share when they choose, listen to others and experience the comfort of not having to carry it all alone.

In a world that asks us to keep moving, keep responding and stay constantly connected, finding a moment of stillness can feel almost unfamiliar. Meditation offers you somewhere to pause.
A few quiet minutes to step away from the noise, soften your attention and come back to yourself. There is nowhere you need to get to and nothing you need to achieve. Just the gentle invitation to be here, exactly as you are.
You don't need to be able to empty your mind or sit perfectly still. Meditation is a practice of returning, to your breath, your body, your senses and, perhaps most importantly, to yourself.
You can begin with just a few minutes. Over time, these small moments of stillness can become something you naturally reach for, a space to breathe, reset and listen more deeply to your own inner world.
Come and sit for a while. You might be surprised by what you hear when everything else becomes quiet.
Rising Wisdom is the deep, intuitive knowledge we each hold, that emerges through life’s challenges, like grief, loss, and transformation. It is the inner knowing that is revealed to us when we quieten the outside world and tend to our needs with care and compassion.

In 2000 my sister was brutally murdered, and without the right emotional foundations and support, my life very quickly spiralled out of control. I tried to find a way out of my pain by looking outside of myself, but felt stuck trying to get back to a version of myself that could never exist again. I eventually recognised that I needed to turn my attention towards my own inner healing, so I embarked on a quest to break free of the chaos and overwhelm cycle that prevented me from truly flourishing. I found the healing benefits of therapy, yoga and meditation before eventually finding my way to circle; a place where I felt gently held in my vulnerability as I put my stories into words.
With a 25 year career as a clinical professional within healthcare, including over a decade as a specialist clinical educator, my career has always focused on helping people. However, after my sisters death and my own healing journey I knew that I needed to help others to connect with their stories, and became determined to offer a sacred space to people navigating their grief and loss. I initially trained as a circle facilitator and a meditation guide, and have been offering circles to women and the LGBTQ+ community since 2020, but the thread of grief work became so deeply woven through all my therapeutic offerings, I chose to qualify as a hypnotherapist and trauma-informed Grief Coach turning my focus to offering support to those experiencing grief and loss through the sacred practice of grief tending and powerful modality of hypnotherapy.
Both trauma informed and LGBTQ+ inclusive, I am also currently in training as a psychotherapeutic counsellor, and somatic healer.
